Indonesia & WMO

Indonesia is committed to bridging the gaps between developing and developed countries by sharing knowledge and technology for impact-based weather and climate prediction, building multi-hazards early warning systems, and developing educational programs for the young scientists/experts and communities.

Indonesia plays a significant role in coping with atmospheric-ocean circulation and is willing to share its experiences and knowledge with other WMO members.

Indonesia actively engages in numerous ongoing WMO programs and activities, such as the Coastal Inundation Forecast Demonstration Project, Global Ocean Observing System, and Southeast Asia Climate Outlook Forum, among others.

Indonesia hosts important WMO constituent body sessions and technical meetings and events, such as the 3rd Multi-Hazards Early Warning Conference and the 10th International Workshop on Tropical Cyclone.

Indonesia is actively contributing to WMO as one of the WMO Regional Training Centers, Tropical Cyclone Warning Center, Southeastern Asia-Oceania Flash Flood Guidance System Center, and others.

Indonesia promotes capacity development programs through its Indonesia-Regional Training Center of WMO, such as the Group Fellowship Training Course on Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Impact Based Forecasting, and has contributed to the development of NWP in the Pacific region
